Session 1: Federal IED Impact Mitigation Programs

This presentation will provide an overview of the programs established and supported by the Office for Bombing Prevention: the Multi-Jurisdictional IED Security Planning program, the National Capabilities Analysis Database, the National IED Awareness Campaign, the Bomb-making Materials Awareness program, the TRIPwire Web-based Law Enforcement Counter-IED Intelligence program, and the SWAT/Bomb Squad Interoperability Project.

Session 2: Rapid Medical Response: Self-aid/Buddy-aid for Patrol

“Shots fired… officer down!” Dreaded words heard on any police radio. If this were you on the radio, do you have the training to save the life of a fellow officer? Injuries in the law enforcement environment range from the mundane to severe. What you do in the first minutes after a severe injury can mean the difference between life and death. This session will discuss the definition of self aid/buddy aid, the importance of self-aid/buddy-aid, how it applies to your role in law enforcement, and how to obtain self-aid/buddy-aid training for your agency.
Session 3: Emergency Response: Public & Private Utiliites

Session 4: Search & Rescue Support to Law Enforcement

This presentation is an overview of best practices in responding to a missing person search. Tips for evaluating search urgency, deciding where and how to begin the search, and obtaining necessary resources will be discussed. Participants will hear case studies from those involved with several recent high profile searches in Illinois, and receive tools to take back to their own jurisdiction to improve their next missing person response.

Session 6: Are You Ready for a Major Event? Lessons Learned from the G20 in Pittsburgh

This presentation will provide insight into the challenges faced by the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police and ILEAS Mobile Field Force teams in planning for the G20 Summit. ILEAS worked with Pittsburgh during the planning process, provided assistance with an advance detail and intelligence gathering, and deployed nearly 200 officers for the duration of the event.
